About

Heather, Mainstream Machine
Hi, I’m Heather!

Welcome to Mainstream Machine! My name’s Heather Bernardo, and I am an editor for a local newspaper in Great Falls, Montana.

My goal for this site is to bring you all things newsworthy!

I’ve decided to take the jump into learning a bit more about social media and making my own websites, so this is my pet project which I hope you’ll enjoy!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved writing. I used to write little poems in elementary school and would always plan my day in my agenda books for school. I’d always journal how my days went, down to the most mundane details like what I had for lunch. My journals would be meaningless to others, but for me, it was a chance to get my thoughts out of my own head and onto paper.

If you haven’t tried journaling yourself, you should definitely give it a try. It’s pretty much free therapy and you free your brain space up for more important things.

If you’re going to journal you should also take time to go back and review your notes and see how far you’ve come with your self development journey. This is something I’m still working on myself because sometimes you can look back and say “I can’t believe I wrote that!” and feel a little embarrassed. But really, it’s only you who needs to read it, and it’s your journey that matters!

When I’m not writing, I always have at least two books on the go. One for personal development, and usually a history book that tells the real life story of how people lived the simple life back in the early to mid 1900s.

I’ve always appreciated the simple life, which is why I like writing, reading and drawing so much. All you really need is a pen and paper. Something that’s been around forever.

I still prefer to take handwritten notes because the computer can be distracting. You open your computer and a simple word doc but the temptation of social media can just be too distracting sometimes to focus! All of that knowledge (and junk) is at your fingertips. Call me old school. 😉

I also enjoy running, yoga, and a glass of wine (or two) in the evenings. I recently ran a 10km marathon and am working towards a 20km marathon. I really find running helps clear the mind, and with some good music, you can’t beat that runner’s high.

I hope you’ll find my site informative, and go easy on me with the web development side of things, I’m still learning!

Much love, Heather
